JENNIFER LARRABEE, ESQ.

Jennifer Larrabee is the founding member of Larrabee Legal, PLLC and brings with her more than twenty years of employment law and compliance experience.  Throughout her career, Jennifer has served as a strategic advisor to C-suite, senior management, and HR professionals on resolving complex employment law and compliance issues, many of which have involved claims with public relations, brand reputation, and financial implications.  She has overseen and managed hundreds of investigations involving allegations of sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, fraud, bribery, and other workplace violations. 

 

Jennifer also has experience handling issues arising out of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements and has provided legal guidance and support to diversity and inclusion initiatives.  Jennifer has the distinct ability to balance business needs with legal requirements and to offer practical legal guidance in the context of her client’s company culture, business needs, and risk profile. 

 

Prior to founding Larrabee Legal, PLLC, Jennifer served as Chief Employment Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at HBO for more than a decade.  With responsibility for all employment law matters, as well as the company’s global ethics and compliance program, Jennifer’s major responsibilities included: conducting and overseeing employment related and compliance

investigations internally and on HBO productions, developing and providing on-line and in-person training to HBO employees and to cast and crew on HBO productions, drafting and negotiating employment-related agreements, and creating and implementing global human resource and compliance policies.

 

Before HBO, Jennifer was Vice President and Senior Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs at Sony Music Entertainment.   While at Sony Music, she was the primary attorney responsible for all labor and employment matters for several record labels, international affiliates, and corporate business units.  As part of her responsibilities, she advised and counseled the entire human resources team on compliance with applicable employment laws and creating best practices to ensure compliance.  In addition, she developed and delivered anti-harassment and discrimination training. 

 

Jennifer also served as Counsel, Business and Legal Affairs at Miramax Film Corp.  where she was the sole in-house employment attorney and began her legal career as an associate at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman in the Labor and Employment Group.  Jennifer received her law degree from Brooklyn Law School and her undergraduate degree from Columbia University and is a member of the New York Bar.

  • Counsel human resources professionals on a wide variety of employee relations issues taking into consideration your company’s risk tolerance and corporate culture

  • Draft and negotiate employment-related agreements including employment agreements, offer letters, independent contractor agreements, separation  agreements and settlement agreements

INVESTIGATIONS
  • Conduct prompt, thorough and discrete investigations of employment and compliance-related allegations including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, fraud, conflicts of interest and violations of company policies

  • Investigations are conducted with an eye towards litigation

  • Assist with ensuring that polices, practices and forms are all legally compliant with rapidly changing employment laws and reflect your company’s culture and values

  • Develop and implement restructurings and reductions in force that are legally compliant, create the least amount of disruption, and will withstand scrutiny in case of a legal challenge

ETHICS & COMPLIANCE
  • Create or augment a company-wide ethics and compliance program, including:

    •  Drafting or updating compliance policies such as a code of conduct, anti-corruption policy, and developing awareness campaigns surrounding such policies

    • Creating and providing in-person or virtual compliance training such as anti-corruption, conflicts of interest, insider trading

    • Conducting compliance-related investigations

    • Developing a process for assessing conflicts of interest

    • Implementing a risk assessment program
